We are a family of 5 living in Central Queensland, Australia and after years and years of waiting (and saving) we are off on a holiday to the USA.
Living on a property 30 minutes outside of town, my husband is an organic farmer. I am a Cake Decorator, which has helped us earn that little bit extra cash to help us achieve our goal of taking our 3 kids to America. We have 3 young boys and can't wait to take them on the holiday of a lifetime...spending Christmas in USA.
Come along the journey with us, from planning, researching and finally travelling throughout America visiting cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas.

Woohoo...Flights are Booked
Yay! We have officially booked and paid for our flights, so I can now actually say "WE ARE GOING TO AMERICA" This has been a family dream of ours since my hubby and I went back in 1997 (before marriage and kids), but we fell in love with the USA and have always wanted to take our boys there. As a child, my father owned his own small business, so taking family holidays away were few and far between. I had friends who travelled, and we always talked about the ultimate holiday...DISNEYLAND! Since growing up and having children of my own, it has been a mission of mine to take my children to Disneyland. Of course, when you have been dreaming of a holiday for 15 years, the dream tends to get bigger and bigger and bigger (well at least that is what happened to me). Coming from Australia, having a holiday in the US is certainly not something that you can afford to do every couple of years, so when the dream started becoming a reality, I started adding destinations to the list..."well if we are going ALL the way to America, I want to see this, and this, and this, and that"
Knowing full well, that the budget may put an end to some of the wish list, I visited my friendly travel agent (my sister-in-law) to see how far our $ could take us. With 12 months to plan our holiday, she assured me that a special should come up, and sure enough one Friday afternoon, I received an urgent phone call. "You need to come and see me this weekend, there is a special on flights and they need to be booked and paid for by Monday". So off we toddled and by Monday lunchtime, the itinerary was set, flights booked and paid for! WOW!!!
So...this is the plan:
Tuesday 3 Dec - Fly to Brisbane
Wednesday 4 Dec - Brisbane to Los Angeles (4hr layover) then onto San Francisco
Saturday 7 Dec - San Francisco to Washington DC
Monday 16 Dec - New York to Los Angeles
Thursday 26 Dec - Los Angeles - home
Of course there are still a couple of items still to be confirmed - when to catch the train from Washington DC to New York (thinking about Tuesday 10th) and when to drive out to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.
Now to start googling to find some "family friendly" accommodation that will fit all 5 of us :-)
Happy Travelling
